For the railwaymen, knead all the ingredients for the shortcrust pastry into a smooth dough. Let rest in a cool place for about 20 minutes. Roll out shortcrust pastry to a surface of 25 x 4 cm. Place on a baking tray lined with baking paper and bake in a preheated oven at 200 °C for about 5 minutes until light.
Mix raw marzipan with powdered sugar, soft margarine and egg white until smooth. Spread the marzipan mixture in 2 layers on the outside of the short pastry base using a piping bag with a smooth nozzle. Bake in preheated oven for about 8 minutes until golden brown.
Strain and heat the currant jam. Pipe into the center of the webs lengthwise, let cool. Cut the railwaymen into pieces about 2 cm wide.
